With the cold December days ahead of us, we went indoors and stripped the five or six layers of lead paint off all the interior millwork. We took the last few weeks off for the holidays. Phillips House Update January 2008 We started the New Year finishing off all the interior painting. We stained all the woodwork a Walnut color and finished with two coats of satin polyurethane. I subcontracted the framing of the Second Empire style carriage house, which Steve Borchard's crew began building during the rainy month of January. Phillips House Update February 2008 In February, we installed wainscoting in the kitchen, the rear hall, and upstairs hall. We finished the touch-up painting as well. The original 1870's interior shutters were stripped, refinished, and reinstalled. Steve Borchard's crew finished framing the carriage house.
