During the extremely cold month of December, we managed to finish insulating the interior with R19 and R38 rolled insulation. Next, we sheerwalled all of the original interior Victorian walls to meet California Earthquake codes. We passed all close-in inspections, so we'll start on the sheetrock after New Year's. Phillips House Update January 2007 We made major progress during January. We subcontracted the installation of all drywall, which was beautifully finished with five coats of joint compound. Phil and I rebuilt the front, side, and rear porches. We also installed reproduction plaster ceiling rosettes in the center of all rooms to hang chandeliers from, which we'll be purchasing some time next month. Phillips House Update February 2007 We spent the winter concentrating on the interior. The drywall went up during the first week of January. Then, it took two weeks to place five coats of mud on the walls for a smooth, plaster-finish feel. We installed center-ceiling medallions to hang the chandeliers from after the mudding was complete. We spent February priming the drywall and polychroming the walls and ceilings. Our electrician came back in late February to install light dimmers, plugs, and chandeliers.
