June saw the house start to take shape. The cupola was constructed, the roof framing finally completed, original windows re-installed, porch foundations poured, and the drains were installed. We had numerous subcontractors in to present bids for the electrical installation and finished roofing. Phillips House Update July 2006 During the month of July, we finished framing the very complicated, hipped roof. We made a major purchase of scaffolding, which we erected around the building. We stapled Tyvac weather-proofing on the exterior plywood. Our plumber, Joe, installed an underground propane line and ran gas pipes throughout the building as well. Phillips House Update August 2006 In August, a subcontractor installed a forty-year asphalt shingle roof and gutters, so the house is finally weather-tight. Our electrician, Dave Tippey, completed the roughed-in electrical wiring installation, and we began to install $15,000 worth of cedar siding, which duplicates the original siding, for the new additions.
