Medina House Update Summer 2005
The deconstruction of the Phillips House was completed in mid-May
2005. The walls and flooring sat in a lot in Akron, Ohio until June 12,
2005 until two fifty foot semis made the trip west. Our first truck
was over-sized and was impounded by the Wyoming State Police for a
few days until we explained it was an historic house that was to be
reconstructed.
On June 19th we unloaded the trucks at a temporary storage facility in
Sonoma County. We are still awaiting the final engineered plans. The
slow permit process is underway and a new septic system will be
constructed soon. We also hope to be trenching for the electric supply
service sometime in July. We’re hoping for final permit approval in
mid August at which time we hope to lay a new concrete foundation.
During September we hope to get the walls up. Still much to do, but so
far we’re loving every minute of the project.
Aqua’s House
Sadly no one has come forward to save Aqua’s 1870's home in
Brunswick, Ohio. On June 1, Jack and Steven went back out to
Ohio and salvaged cornice brackets off the grand home. The brackets
will grace the rear of the reconstructed Phillips House.
