With Spring right around the corner, we continued the finishing touches on the interior trim restoration, as well as final floor varitanes. Of course, there was plenty of touch up painting during the final finishes on the walls. Most interior trim was stripped to bare wood and varnished a dark walnut. Ron Raffo did a great job on the Mansard roof on the carraige house. Phillips House Update April 2008 With the days getting longer and warmer, we moved outside and finished the restoration of the front porch. New front stairs were built and highlighted with salvaged newal posts from a recently demolished San Jose Italianate. Phillips House Update May 2008 One of my favorite parts of the project was the restoration of the rear porch. We doubled the size of the original porch and continued the Italianate arches. Our buddy Dean copied the pattern of a 1870's porch post pattern and created the authentic looking ballistrade.
