Phillips House Relocation

On March 15, 2005 we began the deconstruction of the Phillips House, an 1874 double bracketed Italianate located in charming Medina, Ohio. The home was available for the sum of $1.00 to
anyone willing to move it off the site to make room for the expansion of the Medina County Library.

After two trips to Medina in January and February, I decided that the home with it's marble mantle, oak floors, walnut staircase, and abundant Victorian trim was worth the effort. I made a plan to disassemble the interior and exterior trim, and saw the walls into movable pieces that could make the two thousand five hundred mile journey to a new location in Forestville, California.

This site will chronicle our attempts to rebuild this once grand home in its new location.
